Teaching Comparison

There are a ton of different teaching styles that are applied in today's society. In the movie, Mona Lisa Smile, we see probably the birth of progressive teaching. Miss Watson teaches her students that everyone has a choice and that everyone has a right to there own opinion. In the quote from the novel, Hard Times, the speaker talks about how facts are the only thing you need to learn. Also to basically conform and listen to what everyone else tells you to do, say, or think. There are benefits from both of these different methods of teaching. Progressive teaching ,which is what Miss Watson taught her students, teaches people to form opinions for themselves. Which as a result could lead to originality. The novel talks about how facts are all you need to know. Though its to good to have a good foundation of facts to be able to base opinion off of. I believe that both are an essential for an adequate learning experience.

Mona Lisa Smile

One of my favorite themes of the movie was choosing your own destiny. I'm really glad we watched this as the young adults that we are. We as teenagers and high school students, everyone has a standard for us. How we are supposed to act, feel, what we do after high school, and what we do in life as a whole. She encourage individuality. This is something that people did not do back then. Even though she made mistakes, she was an incredible teacher. She really made a difference in those girls life and the way she taught them to think for themselves.

This movie is going to be about how women become more independent. It's going to be about how there is more to being a woman than just being married. The actress Kristen Dunst is going to become lazy in class and not care about class at all. This movie is also about how a teacher can really make a difference in the women's lives as to what they want to be, and being independent about it.

High school is a breeze compared to college. Based on the information I have read and discovered on the internet you have a lot of time on your hands in college rather then high school. Yes you will have more work and yes you will have a lot harder assignments ,but if you manage your time wisely it will be that much more easier. Study habits are a big part of your success. You need to make sure you are always looking over your notes and reviewing. You never know when you will have an important test or quiz. Its better to be safe then sorry. So what I've learned that applies most to me is to mange my time wisely and stop procrastinating.
